CBH Micro Boring Tools — Characteristics
- Adjusting rate 0.01mm, adjusting rate reaches 0.001mm by vernier scale.
- Cartridge have two different inserts TC and TP for option. Cartridge could be mounted in opposite direction for back boring.
- The small diameter tools with range of 20–203mm use CK connector, which compatible with mainstream products on the market.
- The large diameter tools with range of 148–1275mm use the bridge structure, with 70%–90% aluminium, rigid structure and lightweighting, which make cutting more efficient and stable.
- External boring tools have CBH-M and CBH-L for option, which can reach external boring range: 13–715mm.
- All series have internal cooling design, which is easy for chip removal, easily cooling, and ensures machining stability.

Installation Of Cartridge and Inserts
- ① Clean the mounting surface of insert holder and boring head; Mount the insert holder while fitting into the convex on the head; Make sure there is no gap and misalignment between insert holder and boring head; Fasten the locking screw properly. For back boring, please mount the insert holder turned over 180°. See Fig. A
- ② Use compressed air to clean the surface of inserts and insert pocket on cartridge. Ensure they are free of any dust or oil; Position the indexable insert on the insert pocket and tighten the clamping screw securely. See Fig. B

Usage of Graduated Dial
- ① Unlock locking screw (figure 4)
- ② Clockwise adjust the dial (figure 3): when the dial scale moves one division, 0.01mm is added to the boring hole diameter; when the matched line of dial and vernier scale moves one smaller division (as per vernier), 0.001mm is added to the boring hole diameter.
- ③ Lock the locking screw (figure 4).

Operating Instructions
- Before operation, check that the indexable insert is suitable and the locking screw is fastened securely.
- ① Loosen the locking screw in anti-clockwise direction.
- ② Adjust the graduated dial clockwise to increase working diameter. Adjust anti-clockwise to reduce working diameter.
- ③ Please adjust the graduated dial in the same direction as the beginning of rotating when finishing.
- ④ Tighten the locking screw clockwise properly.

Notices Of The User
- ① Use boring head within suggested range.
- ② Rotating the graduated dial without loosening the locking screw would cause damage to the internal moving parts of the boring head.
- ③ Check the following two possible troubles when the rotation meets big resistance or refuses to move: (a) If the locking screw is loosened. (b) If the boring diameter exceeds the boring range of boring head.
- ④ Machine spindle shall be run in anticlockwise direction when back boring is adopted.
- ⑤ Inject grease until it overflows from the circumference of the graduated dial. In addition to lubrication, it helps remove infiltrated coolant and impurities. Please adjust the graduated dial regularly to avoid grease becoming hardened. Do not overhaul the boring head without instructions from DEREK.
